1999-2002 Mercedes Benz E320 Reliability?

Researching this vehicle and may purchase one. I'm reading mixed messages on Google. Are E320's of these years reliable? How are they in terms of electrical and accessory faults? I am almost positive that a MB drivetrain will last a very long time with proper maintenance, am I correct? If so, how many miles can I expect one to last if I took very good care of it? Any repair I need to do, I buy parts for my cars online and then install them (or repair) myself, so I'll never be seen at the dealer paying $5000 for an oil change. Just would like to know if I should expect a ridiculous amount of troubles, or will it get me from point A to point B with little to no problems? I have a baby on the way and they are inexpensive safe vehicles. Answers from mechanics or "Do it yourself" owners who don't rely on the dealer for every little light bulb that needs to be changed are highly appreciated. Thank you.
