During the xmas holiday people are so giving and charitable?

but once Dec 27th comes around people are no longer giving, charitable and loving for our society. Why cant this be possible all times of year.Is not this hypocritical. ? I think it is and very sad. People starve and go without material things. Than Dec comes around and people act as if they are doing one another a favor doing it once or twice a year. Is this hypocrisy. Don't people need food and sustenance 356 days a year. Whats tour thoughts??
